Enbridge is hiring an Engineer who will ensure compliance with our company's Process Safety Management (PSM) policies and procedures for the assigned operating region. This role focuses on regulatory compliance, adherence to internal standards, and active participation in safety improvements and audits. PSM audits.

Here's what you will do:

  • Facilitate or oversee the execution of Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) for assigned operating region, as required for baseline PHAs, projects and MOCs.

  • Analyze and evaluate a wide range of PHA scenarios using the Operational Risk Matrix to assess impacts on safety, operations, and the environment.

  • Collaborate with Risk Engineers in Risk Management department to assess potential risk reduction and support risk treatment decisions as required.

  • Conduct periodic Process Safety Information (PSI) audits to ensure documents and drawings are being maintained per the PSI Standard.

  • Conduct periodic internal PSM audits PSM regulated facilities, as well as other GTM facilities, in accordance with PSI standard regulated facilities to ensure adherence to PSM policies and procedures (3-year comprehensive audit and annual file audit).

  • Coordinate efforts during external PSM audits, taking role of PSM subject matter expert to support assigned operating areas and GTM IMS elements or programs during audit.

  • Ensure asset related changes are effectively managed by facilitating the Asset Management of Change (AMOC) process for the assigned operating region.

  • Support the assigned operating region in planning and completing changes through the Asset-Management of Change process.

  • Participate as requested in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews to verify all requirements in the MOC have been completed.

  • Support the workforce in use of the AMOC application (Maximo), with a strong focus on user support and satisfaction.

  • Provide training related to updates in the PSM Program resulting from deficiencies found through various reviews and audits, and major changes to program related services, systems, and processes.

Who you are:

You have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (minimum) with 4 or more years of directly relevant energy industry work experience.

  • Experience with Process Hazard Analysis techniques, particularly HAZOP, FMEA and What-If studies.

  • Familiarity with quantitative and semi-quantitative Risk Assessments, including an understanding of techniques like LOPA and FTA/ ETA.

  • Pipeline and/or plant operations work experience.

  • Knowledge of OSHA 1910.119, CSA Z767, CSA Z260, ISO 31000, API 1173 and related codes and standards

  • Strong interpersonal skills including confident, supportive, collaborative, respectful.

You can:

  • Interpret technical documentation such as Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Standard Operating Procedures, Shutdown Keys, and control narrative etc.

  • Work within a diverse makeup of facility operations and maintenance personnel, engineers, managers, and EH&S professionals.

  • Work with lead and/or participate large and small teams of people.

  • Work in an independent environment under the scrutiny and pressure of regulatory agencies.

Preferred Assets:

  • Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum Engineering degree.

  • Knowledge of process equipment and process engineering.

  • Experience with root cause failure analysis techniques, BSCAT preferred.

  • Experience using specialized software including PHA Pro and BowTie XP.

  • Knowledge of physical effects including gas dispersion, vapor cloud explosions, flash fires, jet fires, BLEVEs.

Working Conditions:

  • Approximately 70% Office Environment-vs-30 % in a Field Office or facilities outside operations in all types of weather.

  • Available 24 hours per day to respond on site to emergency situations and must be able to remain calm and focused during emergency situations.

  • May be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.

  • Perform tasks at elevated locations, which may include working at heights, while prioritizing safety and stability.

  • May be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.

  • The employee is occasionally exposed to hot, cold, wet, or humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock and vibration.

  • The noise level in the work environment may be above 90 dBA.

  • Operate under demanding time constraints to meet specific regulatory deadlines set by facility operating authorizations (working under pressure and facing tight deadlines).

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
